Quick Setup

This page walks you through the most important settings to configure right after installing Tabule Theme, so your site looks and behaves as expected from day one.

1. Activate your license

Go to Appearance → Tabule → License, enter your license key, and click Activate. Without an active license, features like the Sidebar, TOC, Dark Mode, Hero Section, Breadcrumbs, Inline Related Posts, Social Sharing, and Search Box will not be available in the Customizer.

2. Set up your main menu

  1. Go to Appearance → Menus.
  2. Create a new menu or use an existing one.
  3. Under Menu Settings → Display location, check Main Menu.
  4. Click Save Menu.

For a footer legal menu (Privacy Policy, Terms, etc.), assign a menu to the Footer Menu location.

3. Configure layout and colors

Open Appearance → Customize and adjust:

  • Container — choose between Separate Containers and One Container style; set your content width (default: 1200 px).
  • Colors — set body background, content background, text color, and link colors.
  • Typography — choose fonts from the list and set font sizes and line height.
  • Header & Logo — select header style, background color, and upload your logo.

4. Configure the blog / archive

In Appearance → Customize → Blog → Blog / Archive, choose:

  • Layout: Grid or List
  • Number of columns (2, 3, 4, or 5)
  • Whether to show featured images, categories, author, date, excerpt, and read more

5. Configure single posts

In Appearance → Customize → Blog → Single Post, enable or disable:

  • Featured image display
  • Post date and author
  • Tags
  • Author info box
  • Previous / Next navigation
  • Comments

6. Configure performance settings

Go to Appearance → Tabule → Settings → Performance and consider enabling:

  • Disable jQuery — removes jQuery from the frontend for faster page loads. Only safe if no plugin you use depends on frontend jQuery.
  • Load JS inline — embeds the theme JS directly in the HTML, saving one HTTP request.
  • Disable Emojis — removes the WordPress emoji script (saves ~10 KB).

7. Set up the homepage

If you want a custom static homepage:

  1. Go to Settings → Reading and set Your homepage displays to A static page.
  2. Create a page (e.g., "Home") and assign it as the homepage.
  3. In Appearance → Customize → Homepage, enable the Hero Section and configure its background, text, and description.

Use the [tbl_latest_posts] or [tbl_cluster] shortcodes on your homepage to display a curated post grid without any page builder.
